They’re swift, they’re silent, and they’re...kinda short, aren't they?…<br>the “Hobbits of the Night” party.
Ranger Samurai Ninja Monk Rogue Psionic
One thing I’m thinking about is switching all of the elites to their magic class at 2nd level, then back again at 3rd, to get an early magic boost. Also, since the ninja levels slower than the other classes, I’m thinking I should intentionally hold everyone back until the ninja levels up. This should hold down the mob strength in random encounters.
I know this would be a tricky party to play, especially in the early game that I am oh so familiar with. I’m also aware that this party would be unable to use the lions share of the special items/weapons/armor in the game. But do you think it’s do-able? And if so, any suggestions?
(p.s. for those who care, the main party is NOT being abandoned, they’re taking a well-deserved break in Tryton.)

No Bard? No Divinity spellcaster?
Were you planning to take any NPCs? If so, which one(s)?
You look like you'll have enough power in the early game -- Rogue, Samurai, Monk up front, Ranger and Ninja ranged, and Psionic healing/disabling. But you're going to be feeling the lack of a Divinity spellcaster or Bard in the mid-game.

Yeah-yeah. The familiarity with the *early game* is god damn *familiar* to me also The party IS interesting but IMO there are no *real* damagers, like fighter or valkyre, and there are too few *real* casters. I'd say a bard, especially when he gets this "idon'trememberinstruments" with mass heal and freez all, would be a nice companion, and there will be no need of priest, of course priest IS useful in regaining stamina, but it could be done using potions. And also the race is just for bards. I'd say, when you do have ranger, the need of ninja is very small. But, however, the party's nice. Sorry 4 mistakes in the names. PLaying stuupid russian version.

I just started a new game too. I installed a G-force III I got for Christmas (I didn't need it, but was I going to turn my brother's thoughtfullness down? I think not) and I just kept getting artifacts in my saved games. I tried starting a new game and go figure-no artifacts. I, I can't believe I am going to say this, I deleted all my saves and am beginning again from scratch.
I think I have totally lost my mind. But, I have a new game going. ;D

You're not weird, jersey. Once I got my three groups like I want (Explorers, Magickers, and Misfits) I too deleted all the others. *gasp* Call me orderly, I can't help it! And Merkin, good luck with the Hobbit Hoard! But I tend to agree, you may regret not having any Divinity magic. Of course, I'm not one to talk. My Misfits don't have any magic at all, just potions and such. (Well, I did break down and give them light.) Heh, your lead group is resting in Trynton, huh? You know one of these days you're jut going to have to let them get out and take a few risks! judee

(p.s. for those who care, the main party is NOT being abandoned, they’re taking a well-deserved break in Tryton.) But of course they are Merkin Been listening to too many politicians, that's what they would say because as long as you don't announce the party's demise you can't be help accountable for their failure to complete the game as you promised some time ago ;D

Ranger Samurai Ninja Monk Rogue Psionic Hmm, Monk/Rogue in front, Samuri with Extended (No-Daichi or somesuch) on Left, Ranger on right and Psionic/ninja in the middle... could even slap the ninja up front if needed, 'pending on which way you are going with'm. Prolly would be a somewhat difficult party to get through to endgame, but could be good fun with all the brain-blastin spells you'll get with the Psycho

I'd put Samurai/Monk/Rogue in the front (you can have 3 there). Put Ninja on one flank, Ranger on the other, and Psionic in the center. After that, it will depend on which NPCs you get.
Using a polearm with the Samurai throws away most of the class's advantages (dual swords).

What about giving the polearm to the Ninja? I', toying with a group almost like this one (except for the hobbitness). I wanted to try out a company of Critters. Though the Ninja is known for her throwing crits, doesn't she also have criticals on her closer ranged weapons and/or martial arts? Since I had a monk for the M.A., I was trying to decide on the best weapon to give my Ninja. The thing is, a ninja can't use the best bo available (what a surprise that was!) and some of the better staffs and maces are also limited. So, I repeat, why not polearm? Though maybe I better go check that list again, those may be limited too... sigh, no matter how I plan ahead... judee

yes the ninja also has crits on close ranged weapons.
crits are all melee + bare hand + thrown if class allows it
