Is there anything special you have to do to be able to play with several parties active at the same time? I presume it's simply a matter of starting with an empty "saves" directory, create the party and play, then on exiting copy this to somewhere else, clear down, start next party, wash, repeat and then just reverse the process to return to whatever party you want.
Yes?

Um, I think that's right, but it sounds kinda complicated the way you say it. Lessee... I go to the opening screen, pick "Start New Game", create characters, or pick from those already created, check the box at the bottom to say I'm ready to start. The game starts on the beach, I play a bit, then go to the save screen. I don't save over an old one, or go anywhere near the bottom, not sure what you mean by that. At the top of the save screen is a new save ready for you to put the name in. I choose a name for that save, and save it. (Actually I have several saves for each group, Misfits 1, 2, 3, Magickers 1, 2, 3, etc. When I want to play, I just choose the most recent of whichver group I want to play with. Of course, if I want to start a new party when I'm already in the game, the only way I know to do that is to quit the game and restart it, choosing the "new game" option again. Lol, and after all that, I'm still not sure what you were asking! judee

Yea, messing with Dirs is a pain, no need for that. So far, there is no limit on the number of saves (had 5 pages at one point ;p, down to 2 now).
I just have one main save for each party, and use the quicksaves whilst playing them.
btw, you don't have to quit the game. If you hit 'esc' whilst in the normal view, it will ask you to 'Quit to Main Menu?' (or is that what it does when you go into the options stuff..., whatever, one of the two ways goes to main menu, other goes to winders).

Thanks, Spydah!

Yes, but my way means no accidents I can just envision me doing a save with one party and not really concentrating and overwriting one from another ... especially as there's only one group of quicksaves. But I take your point, my way is a lot more tedious and maybe I'll get bored real quick

By default, you CAN'T overwrite an older save, as the save screen automagicaly gives you a shiney new space for your save. So only by your own blundering can you overwrite an old savegame (not counting quicksaves, o'course)

Anyhow, I'd overlooked the "are you really sure?" prompt I'd get if I did commit a faux pas, maybe I'll give it a try, thanks for the suggestion.

I just use one spot per party, plus the quicksaves during the session. No need for THAT much backup, that is like PPing forever with re-loading at every bad PP...

Well I'm always scared of getting into one of those "... you'll have to re-load a save from before xxx ..." where "xxx" is a looooong time before my earliest save
