Help! I'm about to make four Fighters, and I don't want them all using the same weapons. I've found that blunt weapons are excellent because you can dual with a whip in one hand for extended and a mace in the other. My other current Fighter dualed in swords, but at level 10 he still hasn't found a secondary slot sword. I've seen a secondary slot axe, but I've heard they stink. Polearms are 2-handed, and I'd rather like to dual. Daggers probably don't do much, do they?
I'm looking for assurance that I'll be happily equiped if I don't do blunt weapons times four...
Thanks!

Nobody said you had to dual-wield Swords. You can dual-wield a Sword and a Dagger, or some other combination.
Actually, I think the only classes that can dual-wield Swords are the Samurai and the Ninja. But I might be wrong on that one.

Yep - I think you're right about the swords. The reason I wanted to use two of the same weapon is that it avoids having two weapon skills canabalize each other. I've done some research and this is what I'm going to do: F1 - dual daggers F2 - Polearm F3 - dual maces/flails F4 - dual maces/flails Yippee! Now I just have to find those weapons.

I tried it...and you can't dual wield whips and mace/hammer/flail.
I thought about doing that too.
Am I just doing it wrong or something? Can someone else do it?
Thanks

I think that the problem is that you can't dual weild two weapons that have different ranges.

Interesting thought. Mayhap they were Primary Hand only weapons?

Actually, (correct me if I'm wrong, please!) I think you can dual two different (extended and short range) but you have to understand that when the enemy is in extended range, only your extended weapon will be useable. If the enemy comes up close, thenyou can benifit from the two.
I personally, wouldn't put a whip with a mace. I'd choose the best mace/flail I could fine and put a hammer (2ndary) with it. Of course, if there is something stronger than a hammer for secondary, that's better.
Daggers are a definite option, most of them can be equipped as secondary.
Swords, forget it. Unless you are a Samaurai, etc.
There are LOTS of very good polearms. So what if it's a two handed weapon. You won't regret this choice.
Other possibiity, axe. But there, the best axes are dual weilding, like the polearm. No shield, no secondary. Nt sure, but I think a dual handed axe will probably give you as much or more than a regular axe and the one (or two?) possibe second hand axes.
I now nobody wants to mix weapons. but keep inmind tha the Lord, who starts out with Sword and dagger, has dual weapons as a special attribute. Seems to e that that wouldn't be the case if it wasn't to point out that dualing can be with different weapons...
Good luck! judee

You never used a dagger in the off-hand of your fighter? tsk tsk I use a sword and a mace (Shelligharkhaeajklf thing) for the beggining, till I can find a better mace, for mine fighters usually, works very well. Check it

Sorry about this Judee,

I have asked someone to experiment in another board before and he says that it cannot be done (can't even equip the weapons).
The best secondary weapon in W8 is a mace. Secondary axes are a cruel joke in W8. I think W8 weapon developers hate axes or hate people who likes axes (maybe their boss like axes ;D).

Hmm...maybe they had an axe to grind? Sorry, couldn't resist... You're right axes are terrible in Wiz8, the Bipennis that you can buy early on in Arnika is probably the best thing you can find for a long time. There are two or three super axes that you can get in the late game, but then there's no guarantee that they will show up because they're mostly random treasure.

Oh shoot! I was sure it was just a matter of range, both being available in close range.
I would think you could equip both, don't understand what range has to do with it.
I'm wondering though, does it say something specific about it when you try to equip? Or just "not possible".
I'm wondering if it might be because a whip has a different type of hit than the bashing Hammer?
