In the early game when gold is scarce, especially for us upright citizens who wouldn't dream of stealing from anyone , what do you think are the important things to buy? For instance, is it really worth spending some precious gold on a piece of armour which will add like maybe +1 or +2 to your AC? My current (ex) party had a rouge and a samurai as the meleers. On leaving Arnika the rogue was using dual poison daggers, with a poiganard (sp?) and something else available if it seemed useful. I had used some gold on the Gleaming Sword for the Samurai because even though I had acquired Bloodlust I wanted the Sam to use a bow. Potions seem is abundant supply so all that's left seems to be spell books and an occasional Ressurrection Powder in case of accidents. Anything else springs to mind? I presume once when gets to Trynton and beyond more powerful weapons and armour become purchaseable, but the presumably they're findable too.

I usually buy the town out of spell books before anything else. I always have at least to front-line types, and if one is not a monk, you get 2 good weapons in/soon after Arnika anyway, so no need to buy anything save secondary weapons. Armor I buy second, if books are all done and I have any cash left. However, I just fini Trynton, and have 26k gold, and a load of craep to sell... so money either is not a problem after a very short while (10th level here), or stuff gets expensive REAL quick

I spent more than 1 million (this is NOT a joke) to buy some real expensive stuff in late game. If you dun steal, having someone with high alchemy skill will net you the much needed income.

the Blonde Brigade are avid shoppers!
we get armor, as fast as we can. specifically we look for special peices. like the Female only +2 Bra! we usually only can find 2 of 'em, so it can be quite a fight sometimes!
we tend to upgrade whenever we can, however we can. buy the new stuff and trade in the old peices.
then we go for the Magic Nectar pots, because early game, we HATE throwing away our mages' turns due to zero spell points!
after that, it's spellbooks. but early game, those are usually beyond our reach. which is why we spend all our bucks on armor in the first place ;D
we don't have many fighters in our groups..... ones that use swords at any rate, so we sell all those fancypants pointy sharp thingies we find.
LOL! we especially adore selling Antone's brother's sword back to him, after raiding it in our trip to the bank. he's usually growling at us to get the heck outta there, while we stand around giggling and whispering. i think it makes him a tad angry/bewildered that we find him funny rather than scary.
V***V
(just what y'all wanted: a peek into girls' brains as they shop!) ;D

In the early game when gold is scarce, especially for us upright citizens who wouldn't dream of stealing from anyone , what do you think are the important things to buy? Well, first of all, in the early game upright citizens should buy a lot of potions to mix, sell and get a ton of gold (Alchemists, don't leave home without one). After that, buying better stuff is no problem. By the time I leave Arnika to go to Trynton my characters have the best armor and weapons available, have bought all the spellbooks they could get their hands on and they have Barbed Arrows, Spike Stones and Hunter Quarrels for ammo and usually they still have some 100,000 gold left over. ;D

Vesselle: LMAO. I love your descriptions of the BB's progress, one of the highlights of visiting this board ;D
Runiel: Well, I have two rangers, well did have and will again, and one takes up Alchemy at level 5, so what level of Alchemy skill is needed to start making potions to generate cash?

it will be tough, but the role playing implications are enormous...

KraGorn, check mine site, Items | Alchemy. I have 4-5 (I think) all the possibilities listed, but only have 4-5 with the skill level req. The lowest I know of, is 15, but who knows?? Let me know if you find one I don't have

Duh, yes, forgot to check there Also forgot to check the strat guide ... strat guide lists the following differences (of course, no way to know who's right!): 1) Cure Poison listed as Alchemy level 15 2) Renewal 50 3) Cure Disease 40 4) Guardian Angel 15 5) Skeleton Powder 70 6) Resurrection 85 7) Pandemonium 50 Nothing listed not in your list. Of course these differences, where you have a different value, could I suppose be a result of balancing changes after the guide was written.

Hmm, well, something is better than nothing, and the strat guide should be at least close, so I'll add the ones I don't have, and leave the ones that are different as they are now. Thanks

the strat guide should change its name, to "wiz8 according to a zealous nongamer who's afraid to boot up the game guide".... LOL, course that's a tad long and prolly won't sell too many copies. brrrrr ::shudders:: it's just so wrong on so many levels that i don't trust anything it says. V***V

75 is what I show.
Yea, I am glad I didn't go for it. I usually pick them up for RPGs purely for the Race/Class info, as it is *usually* better than what is in the manual... usually.

Next logical question would then be:
Which ones should I mix for the most profit/sellback cash?

light + med heal = heavy heal
heavy heal +cure light condition = cure disease
Heavy heal+cure disease =renewel
sell the renewel pots for 4500 apiece.
